Install quad shocks

I dont have quad shocks on my Stang, there is the mount on the axle, is there a bracket for the frame or do they just bolt right to the frame. Or would I be better off just buying better control arms?

There should be a Bracket on the Body in the Fenderwell to mount the one end to.

Even with control arms you still need quad shocks.

There should be a bracket on the 8.8 and a bracket on the inner frame rail towards the rear of the car.

I dont have the bracket on the frame, where can I get a set? I cannot even find the shocks in the autopart stores, only used one on ebay.

Autozone sells em, but only online. They have Gabriel replacements which are pretty good.

Check out their website online. It's listed under "steering dampener". Unsure if they can order this from the stores. It's $25/each

For the brackets on the frame, you'll have to check the junkyard or ebay or find someone parting out a car

i agree with mustang5l5 with about needing quads after control arms

i installed a set of control arms, upper and lower and didnt have quads on for a week or so. the car wheel hopped bad, i ordered the gabriel set from autozone, 2 for 50 bucks i run them flipped around, it clears both my steet and track tire combos so why not run them. it cured my wheel hop and i couldnt be happier.

and yes they are called steering dampeners, i have no idea why. but they are.

I'd go with a good set of upper and lower control arms like Steeda or UPR. None of my stangs have quads, and I have no wheel hop or traction problems. I have Maximum motorsports setup on my 00, Steeda on my 91LX and UPR drag setup on my 88LX.

Currently I dont have any wheel hop. I can roast the tires in first or second and it is very smooth. I was suprised to not see quads on my car and stock control arms. Since I plan on upping the power I just figured it would be a good investment, but I would rather spend the cheese on control arms and a panhard bar.

If I remember correctly MM tells you to remove the quad shocks in the directions with the suspenion kit due to suspension bind. I have the MM lowers with the recomended SVO uppers and the MM panhard bar on my 00GT. It's a nice setup and handles well on the street.

I wouldn't say hit or miss, but your right if don't have the supporting mods or your suspension is worn out then quads may be needed. Things like subframes, control arms, upper axle bushings, springs, shocks, and pinion angle are a big part of it.
