Hey everyone, i'm home for spring break so I started on the installation of my black cloth top. The old top was pretty weathered plus it had some holes from where someone stabbed it. I always see a lot of threads on people who want to know if they can do their top themselves so I figured I'd post up a bunch of pictures and comment on the install as I go through it. Also I'm using the instructions off of donjohns website, which so far are really accurate and have been a major help.
The only problem i've ran into was with needing a #9 torx, the lowest I could find was a t10 which I made work by hitting the t10 with a hammer into the screw and then unscrewing them.
So far I've gotten the old top off and have the new top laid on it and will start the installation of the new top tomorrow after I get some paint for the moldings since they were really faded. Let me know if there are any questions
here are 2 pics before with the old tan vinyl top...
you can see the holes by the rear window
pic of the cloth top, new rear window, pads, cables
partially disassembled
next couple of pics are of the car with no top
pic of the new top laid out on top of the car
