I decided to install a set of hood struts on my Mustang instead of dealing with the pain in the ass hood rod! I looked at the price, and they wanted close to 100 bucks for the set. So I decided to make my own! I went to the junk yard and used the hood brackets from a Grand Prix, the fender bracket from a Kia, and the struts are from an Intrepid....lol I had to modify the hood brackets by cutting them shorter, and drilling new holes! This only cost me $17.00 and a couple hours of my time. How do you think it looks?

Looks as nice as any of the kits i've seen. What year Kia? I've been thinking about doing the same but i figured it would be more hassle than that.

$17 that's my kind of price! I was going to do the same thing and just get parts from the junkyard. I'm not going to pay $100 for some generic shocks and brackets that you can get off of any car.

The bottom brackets came off of a full size Kia, can't remember what the hell it was called? The top brackets were off of a mid 90's Grand Prix, and the struts were off of a 01 Intrepid! I just searched the junk yard for a bit, and when I found what I needed I test fit them on a Mustang in the Junk Yard.

And to make things even easier. I went to redline tunings website, because they have the instructions on line for the kits they sell!

My set from Caniduh just showed up. For $55 they are really nice! Great quality and they are very strong shocks. The style I got dosent require any drilling and they sit more in a layed down position when open too

Laser, are those universal or will they only work on 98+ or something?

They are 99-04 specific but the same place has them for 87-93 applications too
