ok heres how it goes. sunday i changed my pvc valve, cleaned the filter element, cleaned my IAC and put in an IAC restrictor, and cleaned the IAT sensor. i also hid some wires. i ran the car for around a minute, because of my bad HB, and every thing was going great. yesterday i pulled out my fan and coolant resevoir to make way for the HB which came today. So today i change it out (after buying 2 pullers) while im at it, i got rid of my hp pullies because i thought it might help my charging issue. I didnt want to use my original ones since they were rusty, so i used some oem ones from my old 1994 gt AODE convertable. so i bolted those up, reinstalled everything else and fired her. nearly instantly she was running crappy, low idle (500) and dropping a little now and then. regardless, i take it for a spin. every time i came to a stop it would die. i dont know what could be causing it. Im also dripping something, but only when the car is on. I wasnt able to locate it because i dropped an IAC bolt so i cant bolt it back up, meaning i cant turn the engine on to see where its dripping from. So any ideas where to start from?

here is what i moved around, the major object being the motorcraft thing. i also put all the wires into the fender. im 100% they are all connected

resetting pcm is done by unplugging neg on bat terminal correct? i was also thinking on dumping the restrictor, or opening it up more

Yes on the reset.

You will need to leave it discoed for about 20 mins
OR
While it is discoed, turn on the h lights, honk the horn, step on the brake, etc for about 5 seconds and then reconnect the cable.

The idle bleed screw will usually work pretty good between 1 to 2.5 turns out. If it is too far out, you sometimes get a hanging idle after decell.

Good Luck :D

ill just leave it off overnight.. if this doesnt work, as well as the iac plate what are my other options? when i drove it it seemed fine, but whenever i let off the gas and the rpms dropped, engine would die. could i have possibly messed up my IAC while cleaning it?

I changed my HB friday and I noticed it started to "miss" under 1500 RPM and it would die sometimes at idle untill it warmed up. I coukd see the voltometer going up and down then it would die.

Did I see that your IAC is not even properly attached (due to a missing fastener)?

Im with Grady on this. As Ben asked, did you have a hanging idle before (hence the IAC restrictor)?

Nothin like 5 or 6 variables to churn up the mix. It should sort out pretty quickly.

Good luck.

yea see, i thought it may be the iac plate too, because the car worked fine everywhere except when i was completely off the throttle. so i decided to take off the plate. upon removal i dropped one of the bolts and its lost forever, so i wasnt able to check to see if that was the problem. Hopefully a ford dealer has a similer bolt for sale....

ok i took out the iac restrictor and reset my pcm, problem still persists. it will run fine when i turn it on, but after 30 sec. of warming up, rpms stutter and it dies. I try turning it on again, it will run for a sec then die. So the same thing as yesterday. I also noticed my steering wheel vibrates, more than often which makes me thing i didnt install my HB correctly? Also, when i took the hb off yesterday it was pretty oily around the seal, making me think i should get a new one. im going to try and increase my idle, because if i hold down my gas just a little so it idles at ~700, it wont die. However, it still doesnt run as smooth as it does when its over 1000. think rasing my idle will fix the problem?
