Since I am new to the 4.6L, I am sure it has some similar issues as the the 5.0 did/does. I installed a o/r X pipe today and the car idles great in P or N put when it it shifted to D or R the car dies unless I give it gas while shifting in to gear in which case letting of the gas the car will idle but LOW. No issues when driving though. Does the TB have a idle stop screw like the Fox 5.0?

Also, I know alot of folks complain about the check engine light comming on and have to use MIL's but my light has not come on yet but I plant to get a tuner soon anyway.

Did you replace the passenger side gasket with a new OEM ford one? Most of the aftermarket ones will leak or if you didn't replace it at all, it will never seal up right. That will cause an exhaust leak and screw with the idle.

If the car idled fine before the mid pipe swap, don't touch the t/b adjustment screw as you will only be covering up another issue. Check your exhuast and get back with us.

You will need to get mil's/tune if you don't want the check engine light staring you in the face. A tune is the only way to FOR SURE not have a cel. I have mils and my damn cel stares me in the face everytime I drive.

No leak, I bought a new gasket from Ford and used some Permatex gold copper spray and after I tighend the bolts down I used my air impact on it so it's good.

Idle has worked itself out. I forgot to mention that I had the battery unhooked for the whole day so my guess is the computer just need some time to adjust. CEL still has not come on or even flashed.

Also, how does your Flowmaster sound with the H you have?

Glad the idle fixed itself.

The flows are ok with an o/r H. Not too loud but sound decent when you punch it. The don't crackle too bad like most other cat backs (non chambered mufflers). Just don't run them with an x pipe unless you want a very tingy sound.

yeah it might have taken a bit to relearn idle but If possible check your long and short term trims with a scan tool to see if you have a vac leak or something.

BTW never mess with the TB stop

Yep, I did not heed the warnings from other posters and stuck a O/R X on there with my Flows. Sounds OK but, lets face it, not as good. So now I need to find a compatible set of Mufflers..
