The first parts were FRPP axle back exhaust. The sound changed for the better. Stock sound wasn't bad at all, but I wanted just a little bit more. There is a deeper sound and when accelerating it gets loud. No raspy noise or annoying deep drone. I have some video clips of before and after but have no idea how to put them on here. I know the axle back won't add power, I just wanted it to sound tougher. A few hours later I went home and opened the JLT box I received in the mail.

I installed the JLT intake with the SCT x3 tuner. Set it to 93 octane and stiffened the shifts by one level higher than stock. I did not change the rev limiter or shift points. It took less than an hour to get everything done. Great quality and very easy to install, anybody can do it.

I took it out for a drive and noticed the change instantly. Accelerates alot better and shifts incredibly. Floored it a couple of times and it feels like a completely different car. I agree with everyone here in Stangnet that this is one of the best mods you can do.

I'll be running at the track this Friday to see how my car does. I messed up by not running before the mods.

Steeda underdrive pullies are sitting in my back seat right now. I'll be having those put on later today. Hopefully I'll feel some difference.

Thanks to everyone on here that helped with info.

It was all from the JLT website. I was under the impression that you have to put upload a tune that was already set up.

I had to choose what octane (which is what I knew I had to do anyways), shift points, shift stiffness, rev limiter, shift points, what intake brand I used. etc.

or is that the way its supposed to be?

That sounds like a canned tune. I'm sure you're feeling a difference, but if you got a Brenspeed or Bamachips tune, you'd be even more happy. Last I knew, you could get a single tune file from Bamachips for $50.

what's a canned tune?

But I think you are right. On the bamachips site it says 3 tune files. In the SCT x3 i got from JLT i didn't see a choice between 3 or less tune files.

Just choices between octane, shifts... etc.

Agreed. Get a custom tune from a guy like Justin with VMPTuning.com or Doug at Bamachips. Personally I'd go with Justin. It's $59 for a tune so it's hard to go wrong. If you like it, order more.

Really, all you need is one tune. Pick your octane and send them your mods. Any of those guys will create a way better tune for you.

Oh yeah. A canned tune is a generic tune that is overly safe and basically based off flow numbers for the intake. The custom mail order tunes from the aforementioned tuners are based off of dyno files and years of experience in tuning.

Thanks for the info. Yesterday I went ahead and ordered 3 new tunes from Bamachips. Including a 93octane race file, and a 93octane performance. I want to see what happens between the 2 at the track this friday.
