Installed U/D pulleys, no A/C

2004 Mustang GT, under 3000 miles

I installed Steeda U/D pulleys when the car had only 200 miles or so (back in the winter) and now that it's summer, I noticed the A/C doesn't work.

Has anyone else ran into this before? In previous pulley installs I have not experienced this.

The air compressor will kick on for about 3 seconds, then kick off. About 5 seconds later it kicks on for 3 seconds and kicks back off. It just continues this loop, blowing out only cool air. It does this on both A/C and Max A/C.

Also if you turn on just panel, it starts out as hot air and then goes to a warm air, but never gets cool like most cars.

Bad air compressor??

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/ideas.

Stuff like this keeps me from going with the underdrives...
:nonono: It's not because of the underdrives.I have never had any problems at all with mine, and they have been on there for almost two years.I have had them on several cars, and not one problem yet.As long as you get the steedas, there shouldn't be a problem.

Yep. Low freon will cause the compressor to keep cycling on and off and only blow cool air. Eventually, it won't even blow cool. You've either got a leak or it was low to begin with. Either way, it's not the pulleys.

The $64,000 question here is have you ever used the AC before? I only ask this because you have an '04. This sounds like something that has nothing to do with the pulleys to me...

I recently installed mine and had no problems whatsover -- no change in AC, fan operation , noisy belts, or dimming lights (however, I only run with the stock Mach 460 stereo -- no aftermarket equipment). As far as performance improvement, I would say there is a slight (<== key word) SOTP meter deflection...

Low Freon due to a leak

Took the car to the Dealer yesterday and they replaced (under warranty) a seal in the A/C compressor that was leaking. Now the AC is FREEZING!! :nice:

Thanks everyone
