Hey guys,

I am building up my 93 cobra and I'm looking to put a 10 point cage in it. What is the best way to install this massive thing? Cut the roof off and weld the cage in then reweld the roof back on? Also, who makes the best fitting cage? Thanks for all the help!!

your going to have to weld/cut to fit each peice inside the car.....cutting the roof off is not really an option. How fast are you going? if its slower than 9.99 an 8pt cage is fine! Im getting ready to do a write up on one with pictures here is a couple days as soon as i get my camera back

If you could find a shop locally, just have them fab one. My pal paid $350 for his. And I was quoted that same amount this past October. I need to be doin one because if I grab traction, there is no way IRP is gonna let me make anymore passes. There was a thread the other day about this, kind of, anyway I don't remember what all was said so you may want to try and search for it. Sometimes the search function is ballz though.

Like mentioned above if you order one then it still has to be trimmed and fitted. Then welded. Plus truck freight to ship. So I would definately look into having a shop fab it.

While i have the interior of my car ripped apart i plan on putting in an 8pt cage. I have everything out of the car except the plastic center console , does anyone know how to remove it? Also I plan on ordering mine from jegs and then welding it up , maybe that would work for you too?

Well, I am building a stroked 351 to a 427 and puting on a d3-c procharger. With all the homework that I have done, I should be getting 1000-1200 at the wheels! So I think that I need the 10 point. I hope to run 9's maybe dip into the 8's! Winamac is just above Lafeyette, IN. I work at a weld shop so I'm not woried about welding. I found a web site that showed how to do it. Thanks for all the help!!

wow , that's a lot of power! I would like to have the comfort of a 10pt if i was going that fast too. I plan on running 11's when im all finished with a built AOD , 2500rpm stall drag radials and all the normal goodies done to the engine. Does anyone know how to take out the stock center console? It doesnt seem to have any bolts or screws and i dont want to break it into a million pieces ripping it out.

Thread hijacker, lol. There are 2 screws under the shifter bezel. 2 screw behind the glove compartment door. 2 screw under the lower steering column pieces of the dash. If yours has the armrest you have to remove the side oval plugs of the rear of the console to reveal the screws for the armrest. Then there are 2 screw under the armrest/ or under the armrest delete cover. There is a screw on each side of the stereo housing (under the dash). I may have skipped something but if I did you can get it from there.

go with a wolfe racecraft cage...they make the cleanest tightest fitting cages out. I have an eight point in my 90 gt now and the fit is awesome. You can get chromoly from them (lighter and stronger) and have it prebent/jigged/notched so any fab shop can install it in one to two days...I have some pics if you want....

I 2nd that. I was looking at those kits and they're simply awesome. You'll pay a little more for them but its well worth it. They fit so nice you'd think it was factory.

A buddy of mine had his cage put it by a guy in PA. He bends all the tubing himself and does all the welding. I think he paid like $1500 for his 10 point installed. But you really cant see the cage from the outside of the car it tucks up so nice. And the welds on the chromoly tubing are perfect.

He also did a 25.5 chassis for a friend of mine as well.

With that kind of power in the future you may really want to look at a 25.xx series chassis. Once you did into the 8.50's you'll need one if that's in your plans...

Here is a few pics of my 25.5 that I did myself, bent all tubing, etc... no need to cut off the roof, my bars are very tight to the roof, pillars etc and I was able to get my tig in with a small tip and weld completely aroud the bars, plus add the tubing gussets. If your looking for a hold and weld kit Wolfe as mentioned above has a 25.5 kit as well as the 10pts, etc...
