Hey guys.. Well I wanna upgrade my stock cdplayer/radio combo in my 94 GT.. I have the mach460 that I love!.. but the cd player has seen better days.. Now if Iwas to buy the harness at lets say Walmart and did all the wiring .. will the amps work with the Mach stereo?? Or do I have to somehow rewire everything?.. I love the Mach Speakers, makes my mirrors shake.. Girls ask if I have subs in the trunk.. im like yea.. The Ford Radio is a lil outdated looking

All help is much appreciated

you can just buy the head unit, and the wiring harness adaptor, and it will all work together...it takes the wires from the cd player, and the wires from the tape/radio and links them together on one end, and on the other end it plugs into the head unit...its like $20 or $30 for the adaptor i think...

Yeah, pretty straight-foreward installation with the harness adapter. Just don't do like I did and forget to connect the purple amp turn-on wire on the harness. It may be listed as "not used" in the instructions. It is indeed required

Where do you guys get your harness adapters? I don't have the Mach 460 but do have the extra ford amp in there. Might as well use it, if I can.

I got mine at Best Buy, you'll need the one listed under "premium sound" and not the regular Ford one. There are two connectors in the kit. The wrong kit will have two flat, long connectors, the proper one will have a black square connector and a flat grey connector (IIRC). Anyways, they can be bought anywhere that sells car audio supplies. Usually around $10 - $15 or so.
Oh and, yes, you will have to use that "extra" ford amp, since all of the speakers in the car are running from it. No amp power = no sound (I found that out the hard, confusing way)

Not sure which ones you are reffering to there... However, mine is the non-Mach 460 system, so it may be different. If they are small-gauge wires connected to the body of the cassette deck/CD player then they are grounds, and the after-market head unit should have provisions to install them. But the ground on mine was integrated into the power connector Only other black cable back there should be the fat antenna cable.

You can get the harness adapter at circuit city, best buy, most mobile audio shops. or can order them online.

Thanks guys! I'll check at Best Buy this w/e. May see if I can pick up a cheap MP3 deck while I'm there.
