Installing Alpine CDA 9857 in a 2000 Mustang GT - need help

Need some assistance. I just ordered my CDA 9857 from Alpine, their new 2006 model and the stereo shop is saying that I need a Scosche OEM amplifier adapter, the same as CRutchfield sells, but I have read here that I should get 2 Metra wiring harnesses, and then solder in 1 hm resistors. Which was should I go? I plan to do the install myself, and I need clear suggestions as to what to order if possible. My car is a 2000 Mustang GT with the Mach system - the 2 pieces with tape on top and cd on bottom.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't mess with doing the resistor trick. It's almost as cheap to do it with the proper adaptor anyway.

I was told I need both the adapter and the resisters...is this not the case? I am new to this whole stereo install game.

Contact Metras help center they usually respond to emails within a day. I used a Metra harness on my 02 it was 2 pieces, didn't need a resistor, no problems.
