So I need to get the new drip rail molding on after installing the new vinyl top...while it looked trivial, it hasn't worked out so well. Is it my awkward left arm? Or is there a trick?

It can be frustrating. Are the drip rails really "new" or are they original parts? The repops are said to be really poor fitting. Never tried one though.
I usually start at the back and work my way to the front. THere is a rolled edge at the top that slips on top of the drip rail then snaps underneath.
Make sure you leave a gap in the corner for the first roof rail trim part to slip under. If you don't, you will need to take it back off cause it won't move. You only need about 1/16" gap. It will take a good deal of force to "snap" the bottom edge in place. I use my hand, but a rubber hammer willwork too. It will take a pretty good whack to snap it in place. If the drip rail has a lot of paint on it, you may need to clean this off with a razer blade (carefully) to let the moulding sit in properly.

yep...its kinda a pain. I suggest starting at the curve at the front top of the window..if that makes any sense. Clip it on and rotate it down then snap it on. I used a plastic dead blow hammer and tap it lightly
