OK, I got an electric fan from an 88 Camaro for free from my roommate. its the big 15inch single fan. what all do I need to make it work on my 89 LX 5.0/5 speed car? Is there some sort of little package I can buy with relays, sensors, mounting hardware, etc? Im NOT doing a half-assed toggle switch install.

Thanks.

This is about all you will need to get the most hands-free setup for an electric fan setup. Just pick a kit that has a sensor probe with the temperature (or range) you have in mind for it to switch on. http://store.summitracing.com/defau...eywordSearch&DDS=1&N=115&target=egnsearch.asp
Just try and find a way to mount it well (flush with the radiator and with as much coverage with a shroud as possible). All you need is electricity and a switching device (weather automatic or through a manual switch) - not very hard.
Also you can go to your local auto store and ask for some "thru-core" radiator ties that go through the fins and can secure something to it (think like zip ties).

Sounds like you want a Baskin controller.

Figure on spending a little over 100 bucks for the controller. If you start to make a list of what it will cost for a 75 amp relay, a generic controller, etc etc, you might be surprised at how much it is. This makes the Dc Controller seem quite nice.

You could use a 30 amp relay and cheapo controller, but in the opening post it seemed as though you wanted to go with a nicer set-up.

I'd remember that you could pull the DC unit out of the car if you get rid of it, and use it in another car.

Good luck.

Or be like me, and just always have an extra DCC and Taurus fan piling up in your storage room.

Sgarlic, you were actually the one I was thinking of in regard to being able to yank it and save it for the next car. It's pretty cool that your fan and that controller will work fairly ubiquitiously.

If I were to take you up on your very kind offer, I'm sure I would be paying you so I could keep it. My poor self might be better off not knowing what I am missing.
One day though....................... I'll be like Andy!
