ok ive got my stock hpipe off of my 91 and would like to put it on my 85, there is one problem though where the factory mufflers would bolt up to the hpipe it is welded to the y pipe

how can i get them to work on the hpipe, i assume i need flared ends and to buy some 2 bolt flanges but where can i find some flared ends to put on it or what could i create flared ends with, and where could i find 2 bolt flanges

i would like to do it myself because i dont want to have to pay an exhaust shop to swap the hpipe in and whatnot so anyhelp is verymuch appreciated.

Unless you have a torch and you're good with it, you may find in the long run it's a bettter idea to save up a little more money and buy another catback for it- and put the welded muffs wherever you were going to put the Y pipe (I presume, on some form of vacation/retirement?) rather than trying to fabricate flanges to make them work- not that it can't be done. Just my $.02

Sort of been down this road.

It will be easier to just find a new catback type setup and put there. Otherwise, yes, you can adapt the existing mufflers to the new dual h pipe, but, from experience in putting 3 el cheapo exhaust setups on my 82, it will be less expensive to get a set of parts that has the mufflers you want and is made to fit. A shop may be reluctant to do this if you have no cats.

My car went to and from the shop on a trailer, so it was clearly an off road setup........
