Uno dude required. Having spare hands and/or a parts chasing car can be good though.

Do have a breaker bar and some PB handy.

Are you compressing the old springs or doing something akin to the F. Elliot (MFE) method?

I recall that write-up. That should work alright.

For ancillary info and methods, see the abridged MFE method . Luke (site host) has a fox (as does Mr Elliott) but the chassis is close enough to being the same that it won't matter much.

I forgot - if your LCA bolts are like mine were, you'll want a long cheater pipe (I have a 4' pipe for his).

Have fun (I've got some take-off Mach 1 springs for the fox vert waiting to go on myself)!

dont try and take the lower control arm bolts out, they are a BITCH! just unbolt the shock form the axle with a jack under the diff cover, and lower it down that way...those LCA bolts will take like 400 hrs to get out, i tried...it took me about 5 hrs with a few breaks to get mine in...i had help for the rears even though i didnt really need it, and i did the fronts by myself...basically the person helping me with the rear was my dad telling me how many more turns to go on the spring compressor hahaha...like, relax dad i have eyes!

Eric, sorry man. I forgot to tell you to skip down to the middle of that link.

The two methods are polar opposites. I like the MFE method but it can be a real pain to line up the control arms bolts. I chalk this up to slight tolerance issues in manufacturing (in how tight the interface is with the bushing and frame).

I guess some folks struggle with the LCA bolts (I loosen them ANYTIME I'm going to lower the control arm - I dont want to hurt the bushings). For smaller folks, a breaker and cheater pipe work well.

It's really pretty easy stuff. Do hit the big bolts with PB Blaster a little bit before you start. That stuff always amazes me (I just took apart a seized smog pump and it wouldnt budge till I PB'd the dowels, backing plate and main shaft. Then it was like butta').

Good luck.

Speaking of PB blaster, my grandfather has this stuff you cant even buy anymore, his grandfather stocked up so we have some left. This stuff works 5x's better than PB blaster. And im not exagerating. Its some GREAT stuff. I think they made some of the stuff in it illegal.

I'm sure it was good stuff. If it works good, they ban it.

im in the midst of this right now. the axle lca bolts were a bit of a pain to get off but other than that it was smooth sailing. you wont have to mess with them anyway. the uppers should be no problem to take the bolt out.
it might be a little easier with another hand, but you should be able to do it yourself.
