I am almost done installing my MAC CAI and the instructions day to go under the car to install the filter. I can barely get my f%$&! arm up that far, and after many tries barely got the filter on, only to have it fall off when trying to tighten the clamp. Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to do this?

Any help would by GREATLY appreciate right now. Thanks!

Frank

BEFORE you tighten anything up, push the chrome tube through the fender and go under and install the filter the go from there, it's kinda tight to do i think we ALL know that. Don't shove the filter all the way in the tube, just enough so the clamp will hold.

Frank, I feel you pain. I even posted a thread in Talk about what filter can be used that will fit through the fenderwell hole (from up top). No replies on that thread.

I either take an hour to do it or get a helper to hold the pipe up top and I get the filter near the pipe (from below) and we both wiggle till it seats.

Oh yeah, be careful cuz there is a bolt shank or two inside the fender which can rip your filter.

Good luck.

I fought it for a few minutes, then made room for my arm by removing the front wheel and then unclipping/screwing the fender liner and pulling it down and back. Would have been a 10 minute job had I just done that at first...

Frank Rizzo as in the Jerky Boys???? Love them guys...

Cut that lower section of plastic out...that'll give you access..then slide it up and in from the bottom....I just cut that bottom lower portion out, where it rounds the bottm so to say...

Somehow I can take it on and off by reaching through the fender

Whatever you do make sure the clamp is on tight enough and filter on far enough. The rubber that the clamp surrounds ripped off on day and the filter fell inside the fender well.

The same thing happened to me. I went to the K&N site and found one that I beleave will work. P/N: RU-3130. Have the filter now but don't have my car to try it yet! I should be getting it back in the next two weeks and I'll post my results.
