installing maf sensor on non mass air car?

can i just modify my old inlet tube and, cut it out and toss the sensor in there then clamp it back down. would that work fine?

yes, but why not just get one from a junkyard ???

i have one yard in my area and would be lucky to see a 5.0 stang not gutted
