I'm going to install my SFC's today or tomorrow. I was thinking if i support the car by the rear axle and the front arms and as long as it's level i should be fine correct? What if the front is higher then the rear BUT side to side it's level will this not be ok? My buddy has a lift but it lifts on the frame not a 4 wheel lift. peace

I have a '89 LX Convert. Was thinking about the same how important are they on a convert? The car only has 67K orginal miles on it. And its bone stock for now. 4.10's are on the way.

As long as everything is level. It should be alright I would think. You just want to keep the body as straight as possible.
I put mine on 4 stands on a arms and rear axles. First i made sure the 4 stands wehre the exact same height. My garage is as level as can be (meaured with string and level). Made sure all doors opened and gaps measured the exact same as when on the floor. Trunk, hood, all of it. Then welded em up. No problems.
Sweet thanks, hopefully i wont be to lazy tomorrow and i'll post pics. I also wanna do my TQ boxes tomorrow as well as my rear brakes. peace

might be kinda hard getting to all the torque box without dropping the rear end housing - pics would be good.

if i were you i would put the car on jack stands, mock up the seat brackets make a small tach weld to hold at the front and rear and take it to a muffler shop to finish, i did it that way and it cost me $40

I used a tow truck for mine since I don't have access to a lift. Just picked up the rear about 4 feet until the front bumper was almost touching the ground since our trucks all pick up by the tires and left the front tires on the ground. Lifting the car at an angle didn't make any difference since you would have to get close to the tipping point before the weight changes. All you have to make sure of is that you don't have the car twisted... just make sure your fronts stands are the same height as each other and your rear are the same. they don't have to be the same front to rear.
To sum up, it does not have to be level, it just has to be equal and have the weight on the axles.

Well i just thought about it.My welder has a short plug and the only plugin i have in the garage is on the ceiling So i dont think i'll be able to weld the SFC in,but i should be able to weld the TQ boxes up and HOPEFULLY the rear anti roll bar! My girl friend also just got me my new SVO brakes for the rear so they will go on today also! The only thing i dont have to go along with the SFC is the seat braces,i'll make tho soon also,i was also thinking of putting jacking rail braces on also? I will post pics tonight or tomorrow tho. peace
