A friend of mines gave me a sn95 interior light (the one inside on the ceiling). I remember reading somewhere that this could be used in the fox. It looks better and they have switches that turn on the light. Do I have to mod up anything for it to screw in? Any special wiring work needed?

I'd like to know too. I just got one for my car yesterday.

If it helps, I figured out the wiring for it. I need to figure out something for a plug or something.

If you hold it up with the light facing away from you, and with the swtiches facing up, the pins are as follow (left to right):

Pin 1: Map lights (+)
Pin 2: Ground (-)
Pin 3: Dome light (+)

I hope this helps you because it's a pin to take apart. I painted mine so I checked out the pinout before I put it back together.

Yes I put a black one in my car, but I got the plug and some of the wire with it. It has to be connected to the dome light power switched to the door and grounded to the roof I believe. If you have the front swivel map light you can just tap into the power that is on all the time right there for the switched map lights. Just run the wire behind the headliner to the map light. The 92? and 93 have the map light wire already at the dome light. I had to insert the plastic retaining clip part (rectangular part the light snaps into) up above the headliner first, and then run the wires through it, I think, and then snap the light into place. But make sure all the lights work before you install it. One of mine is out, and I think you have to pull it all apart to change the bulbs!

Good luck!

BlackFox5.0,

That is the 92-93 design light. It installs a bit differently than the SN95 light. Mine was from a 95 model. I had one of the 93 lights in my car for several years. It actually uses a different mounting bracket on the roof than the 87-91 rectangular lights. I had to cut a bit on the light and rig up some screws to mount it, and it still didn't fit flush. I was happy to change it for the SN95 one.

Legendary,

I got mine with the light assembly, and it also had a rectangular plastic bracket that was above the headliner in the 95 and the light just snapped right into it. I hope you got that part of it. The bracket and the light kind of sandwich the headliner and that holds it in place. All I had to do was insert the backing bracket above the headliner, it is a bit bigger in size but fits right inside the hole when turned on end. Then the light assembly snapped right into place. If you don't have that part, you might be able to use screws through the lens to hold it into place. But luckily it does not need the wires to be screwed through the lamp to install it.

Good luck!

I was unaware of that.... I was under the impression that it was a SN95 light for the longest time. The auction I won't it forom said it was for 87-93 mustangs, but that was irrelevant to me at the time of the auction. Does my style need a sort of secondary bracket that attaches to the roof? Should it just bolt up since it was in a Foxbody then?

It wont directly bolt up I don't think, but you can make it work. I had to rig up the screws and use some washers under the light between the light and the 87-91 Fox bracket to make it mount. The bracket welded to the roof on those cars is a bit different. It was also used on some Tbirds and cougars and lincolns also I think. I got a lens from a cougar for mine.
