Instrument Cluster swap

I have a 00 GT with a cluster in miles , I bought a cluster in KM and did the swaop but it won't start either.
Here's what GOLDENPONY told me a while ago but I haven't tried it yet.
Here's what he said :
Speedo Cluster swap

Wanna make your new cluster work? All you have to do is remove the back circuit board from the "NEW" cluster and replace it with the circuit board from your old cluster. Theres a handful of screws holding it on. There is a small plastic plug in the center of the circuit board-carefully un-plug it before you remove the board. When you have the old board on the new cluster just replace the plastic plug, replace the screws and you're done. The engine will start, the miles (or KM's) on the digital odometer will be correct. Hope this is of some help.
Like I said I haven't look at my Cluster yet to see what he was talking about but maybe other members will add something to clear this up..
