hello y’all I haven’t posted much. but I’m running my self ragged trying to find insurance for myself. So I’m hoping some fellow mustang owners would help me out, cause god forbid anyone on the corvette forums help out! With there being many more years of wisdom than I have personally I hope someone could help me out.

but either way here my story I have 9 traffic ticket worst being multiple 25 mph over from JAN 25-2015 to FEB 27 2016 along with that 1 accident (RIP corvette may 2015) lastly I need a SR-22. either way it’s been practically 2 years since my last ticket. but the thing is I can’t find in my since of the word “reasonable insurance” on my 2006 mustang and/or 2005 vette. the cheapest I’ve gotten so far was 220 liability and 467 full coverage on the mustang thru dairyland. but I would prefer the vette to be covereved cause it’s has many less miles on it (100K+ less) and I need one of them to be covered for a 1000 plus mile drive from Nebraska to Arizona. where my next duty station is I’m just in a jam cause of my young dumb self that had no since of money or the consequences being reckless brings. so if anyone knows of “cheap” SR-22 high risk insurance for military please give me some advice or even help me manage to get my full coverage out of the 400/500 ranges for one of my cars that would be great!

EDIT: mainly looking for company recommendations or tips help too I’m not really in a passion either at the time to buy a car since I’m making vette payments right now and I don’t have the means or time to sell one or both of the cars

See if you can do defensive driving to help lower you rate. I had 3 accidents last year and my insurance is stupid high. I had to sell my daily because I could not afford full coverage and keep my Mustang at the same time. Right now I only have liability on my Mustang and its reasonable but its still high. I have insurance with Geico if that helps. The only thing that can help is time the longer things go by without any tickets or accidents helps. Sadly these accidents will affect my rates for another 2 years.

Insurance can be so high, especially in your 20s, get a small break at 25. I'll take whatever discount I can find.
Found this, it lists a few companies with rates (already quoted) mustangquotes.com

A few years back, I got into an insurance jam with my '03 GT. I had a couple more accidents than my insurance company was willing to pay for. They gave me the boot and I had to find alternate insurance for the car. At the time, I was 35. I could've paid over $300/mo for full coverage on the car, but since I couldn't quite swing that, I dropped the coverage down to liability only so that I could repair my history and I stopped driving like an idiot. That was 6 years ago.

Now I'm paying about $120/mo for full coverage on two 15-year-old vehicles and am satisfied.

Wise up, stop driving like an "idiot", adjust your insurance levels temporarily until they drop back down, and you'll achieve better insurance rates. Keep your record clear of *anything*.

A couple of things. I was in a similar situation years ago and landed with Dairyland...they were an only option. Part of it required me to get out of the "hot rod" business for a few years, driving a sedate tan four door---it beat walking. It almost sounds like you do not intend to keep the insurance once you arrive at your new duty station...ok if you are going to store the car, but risky if you intend to keep insurance only long enough to register it with your base to gain access...makes you culpable under the UCMJ. I'm sure you've considered all this. IF you only want the insurance to move the car(s) to your next station, planning to store them or work on them after dropping the insurance...consider shipping one with your household goods (assuming you have the weight allowance) and leaving the other behind in storage for a later date. Your service will provide you a bus or airline ticket to your next duty station. Dairyland---not cheap, but not cheap for a reason. Good luck!

I'm going to weigh in here, a few years ago I got screwed by an insurance company. Ohio raised their standards for minimum coverage and didn't inform the general public. Under the new standards I now had state minimum and I didn't find out until I changed companies. A lot of the companies out there will consider you high risk just for having minimum coverage, and in my case my rates went down by adding more coverage. I now pay 336 mo for 4 new vehicles all with full coverage and 3 drivers, one a 20 yo college student.
