I have a 00GT s/c right now and pay $134 a month and I really want a 03 Cobra. What should I expect to pay for insurance for a cobra. I have USAA and just turned 21 three weeks ago. My insurance should go down since I just 21 right?? Just give me some estimates. Thanks alot guys!!
Its going to be hard to give a good estimate because of location and age differences but to give you an idea...
I had a 04 GT in July my insurance was like $83/month
In October I traded the GT for a 03 Mach 1 and my insurance went up by $16/month
In November I traded up to a 04 Cobra and my insurance went up by $4.5/month
So...on a 04 GT I was paying $83/month
on a 04 Cobra $103.5/month
I pay my insurance in full every 6 months and get a discount for that...
Keep in mind that I have Progressive insurance with a multiple car discount, I'm married, 28yrs old, no tickets...yadda, yadda, yadda...
Oh and when I turned 21 my insurance stayed the same...when I got married it stayed the same (Had Geico for both)
I work for an ins. agency here in FL and can say it honestly depends on your driving record. If you don't have any tickets, it won't be too bad. Mine went up a few hundred dollars on a 12 month policy with progressive when I traded my GT for my 03 Cobra. Considering what you're going to pay for the car, it's small fries.
The Cobra is flagged as a "high performance vehicle" in some companies databases so if you have a bad driving record they'll hit you pretty hard.
I have two tickets, but just before I bought my cobra I also bought a house and put my girlfriend on my policy, so I got the homeowners discount and multiple car discount and it still went up a bit.
But, you should just be able to call your agent or ins. company and ask them to tell you what the difference would be.

If I pay it in one lump sum, its $830 for 6 months. If I choose payments, its $80 more divided into 6 payments. No tickets on record and I use Progressive.
