I broke the front ear off my explorer intake when I was putting my engine back together last month and I put a band-aid on it and repaired it with JB Weld but noticed the other day that it looks to be starting to crack.

Has anyone ever tried the aluminum welding rods that you use with a torch or would I be better off taking to a machine shop and having it fixed?

Thanks

Sorry to see that happened to you :(

When it comes to fooling around with cars and such

That kind of thing is bound to happen sooner or later :bang:

If the intake was used ... it could have been stressed from someone
else over tightening

Just a friendly reminder ... When snugging down things such as that ......

The objective is to obtain enough force to compress the gasket for a seal
but
Not so much force that damage might occur

One last thing while we are on the subject of ............

How tight is ... too tight :)

If Aluminum threads are involved ... be all the more careful :Word:

Good Luck with the fix :nice:

I been there before and it really does make you mad :fuss:

I think the shop charged me $75, but my dad told them to deck it too

My dad is retarded by the way and thought that the gasket surface had to be uneven for it the ear to break off, even though I told him the idiot that owned it before me over torqued it.

I can't imagine it costing more than $20-$30 or a six pack.
