Intake fit under stock hood?

When I put my Edelbrock Performer intake on the hood just barely closed. I also had to buy a different strut tower brace, but I don't think it would accomodate a 1 inch spacer. I saw a note that said that a 3/8 inch spacer is all that I could handle with the strut tower brace that I have. The cobra may be completely different. Good luck.

Don't install the spacer imo. Too much of a hassel. If you get a spacer, your egr tube will also be too long. If you keep the EGR! My trickflow with a 3/8" spacer doesn't let the hood close fully. Unfortunately if i don't have the spacer, the throttlebody hits the valvecovers.

Hmmm...... I just talked to the guy and the said the Cobra intake is a 93, not a 95, I musta misuderstood him earlier. Is there a difference? I looked at the FAQ section and it listed the flow rates as being higher with the 93. Will it still work with mine? Are the upper to lower plenum gaskets different? Cus I ordered some 95 Cobra gaskets.

Didn't the 93 Cobra have the EGR ports actually in the Manifold itself? I think that is the difference. Are you running EGR in your current setup?

Yea, I haven't touched the engine except for the CAI and pulleys. The intake I'm getting has the EGR blocked off. It was a ghetto job using JB Weld, but the guy said I could just punch through it and hook the EGR up. I might as well right? For some reason I'm getting really nervous and thinkin this isn't gonna work.

The egr on ours is locateded on the elbow itself leave the one on the 93 blocked off the elbow you need has it on there.

Hey there, incase this hasn't been answered yet... I've got a 95 Cobra convertible and...The intakes for the 94/95 and the previous year 5.0's are differerent. Atleast as far as the uppers go, I'm not certain on the lower. The 94/95's have that long bend in the casting. There is no EGR plate on the 94/95's either. This can all be made to fit/work on your car regardless of year, but it will take work and creativity. Not so sure about your hood clearance though. If you want some pics of the 94/95 Cobra set up just PM me. Also, I'm going to be changing my intake this week, I've got both an Edelbrock Performer and a Victor so I will let you guys know which one works out best. Before anyone asks, I'm not going to be selling the Cobra intake. Also, will be making some other mods too. BTW, this engine is currently running a Vortech S-trim with a few other minor mods...

Just for a comparison I have a 94 GT with the Trickflow Trackheat intake and a 1 Inch spacer under a STOCK Hood. I did some mods but it did fit. For starters I removed the EGR tube and blocked each end with a penny and the original nut. Don't laugh it fits perfectly. As long as you don't pull the electrical connection the EEC won't throw any codes. Then I removed the strut tower brace temporally until I get the aftermarket that will fit (BBK). I also removed the heat shield from the hood. Now here comes the tricky part. The hood is made of fiberglass so I took a dreamel tool with a wiz wheel and cut out the reinforcement brace on the underside of the hood in the center rear of the hood (near the windshield). It looks like an upside-down T. With a little black paint (my car is black) You can hardly tell it is cut and it makes for an interesting sleeper car. With the exception of the exhaust my car look completely stock and is over 350 HP
