intake installed, now I have detonation???

The same thing happened on my car and replaced every thing fuel pump
dist, coil and i got so fed up I took it over to ford and they hooked it
up to there computer and come to find out the wiring connector and
the spout was bad causing the timing to screw up. So i just said fix
it and they charged like 180.00 bucks and I got it back and it did not
ping anymore but it did not have any power because they had it set
at 10 deg and i bumped up to 12 and it kicks ass now.

I did not put in a new PCV valve or screen. Should I have?

It was the timing spout thing itself that was bad? What a trip. $180.00 isnt bad if that was what is wrong. Taking it to the dealer will be a last resort like it was for you. Hopefully it isnt necessary. Thanks though.
