I have an 04 gt and I’m putting a bbk 78mm throttle body on it. Just wondering if I should replace the intake as well or if it’s a big deal or not.

Just wondering...........
  • Why do you think the intake needs to be replaced? Or what benefit are you hoping to get?
  • Are you doing the work yourself or paying someone to do the work?

Well the reason I ask is because I know it’s really common for them to crack and cause a leak. There is no leak yet, but it is the factory one so I figured if I’m going to put a throttle body why not change the whole thing if they’re prone to cracking. Also I’m doing all of it myself as well. And honestly not really looking for a real goal with the changing of the manifold.

It's the intake manifold with the plastic cross over that are bad about cracking.. Your 2004 should have a metal coolant crossover.

For the units with a metal cross over the usual failure is with the gasket..

IMO if you are planning to do the work yourself and it's not broken now, there's no real advantage to doing the work now. Wait for it to fail.

Okay okay that makes sense. Really appreciate the advice man. No need for it unless it fails then.
