intake question

90 mustang GT I have at the back of my intake a wierd metal rod attached on the driver side is this important or can i remove this without problems?

i dont remember where it goes down too but i remember a piece that u had to remove to get the intake off and we took it off all the cars. if thats the piece i say take it off.

if its what i think you are talking about. i took mine off too..looked kinda like some sort of a brace or somthing.
