It adds length to your runners by increasing the distance between the upper intake plenum and the lower intake. Basically, added length means more surface area inside for more air to flow. The average gains are around 2-4rwhp. Most guys usally see around 3-4rwhp though. Thats across the power band as well. While you got that upper intake off, you might want to port it if you have a dremel kit with a polishing kit for it. I did it to mine and it worked out great. Better yet, if you have the money, but an aftermarket plenum and combine it with that intake spacer. I'de be curious to see how well that would work together. Though I do hear that some of the aftermarket intake plenums have added length built in like an intake spacer. Any truth to this ?9646gt said:what type of gains do you usually get?? And more importantly how does this affect the motor and in what way does it help? Just curious I guess..
I once did a write up on here about how to do it. However, I do believe it was lost when Stangnet had its crash a while back and lost many of the files.9646gt said:I have a dremel and polishing kit how would I go about doing that? Maybe there is a good write up somewhere I can look at? I am sure that would help add a couple ponies plus the few from that spacer
As stated above, I have a combined 7/8th of an inch intake spacer on my car with the K&N FIPK induction setup. I don't have any clearance issues either.4.6guru said:My biggest concern is that I'm planning on installing a K&N FIPK at the same time...if I'm going to run into clearance problems, I will not buy these spacer(s). Are there any other opinions out there?
I've never heard of it causing any harm. I've had an intake spacer on my car for the past couple of years now with no problems, as had numerous other people.FalconGuy016 said:Uhhh, these are highly advised against by almost any manufacturer of plenums/tb's. I thought this was just common knowledge now, but in short, its cheating your engine for crappy power (which will hurt it)

OR, do I go for this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tem=7977693841&category=33558&sspagename=WDVW
Obviously there is a huge price difference, kinda weird.
IDK about the whining sound, but I do know that it caused a lot of problems on my friends '01 cobra. Backfiring, stalling etc. I'd stay away.deftsound said:ive heard those throttle body spacers are junk and do nothing more then add an annoying whining sound
Defintely not worth the 3-4 hp gains IMO.FalconGuy016 said:Uhhh, these are highly advised against by almost any manufacturer of plenums/tb's. I thought this was just common knowledge now, but in short, its cheating your engine for crappy power (which will hurt it)
