is there any disadvantage to having too much tubing on an intercooler set up, and are there any tech sites that show installation or customs

man that seems like a major pita. no wonder why my mechanic likes the methonol injection better. i didnt know there had to be so much fabricating to put in an intercooler. especially the paxton with the novi, i figured paxton would have made it to fit easilly.

this coupled with the loss of boost through the intercooler now has me questioning methonol injection again.

the less tubing you have, the better. the more distance the air travels, the more energy it loses.

ok you guys are swaying me back. an intercooler is what i originally wanted, i think it is safer anyway, i started to have concerns about the boost loss and how difficult they are to deal with. how hard is it to maintain the intercooler? i know with the meth, you have to always keep filling the resivor up.

there is nothing to maintain on the IC.it is safer b/c you dont have to worry about filling anything up. the IC works all the time. the boost loss is no big deal. just pulley down and you will be fine.

For a daily driver IC will be better. The intercooler adds more weight than a meth inj. If its a track only car meth would probably give you a slight weight advantage. I like the intercooler personally here is a write up I did on my intercooler install.http://gotstang.com/howtos.php?howtoid=16#jump

You do lose some boost and a bit of low end power, but it's always there and you don't have to worry about a pump failing or running out of windsheild fluid. If I remember correctly I lost around 2lbs of boost through my procharger setup, but with added timing I almost made up for the boost loss.

^OT, but those are impressive #s....iv heard of your car before. How many dyno pulls have you done @ that power level and do you thik its fairly safe? And how many RPMs are you pulling it to? Awsome car man .

The piping doesnt loose much boost, its more the IC...going through the small bars really hurts flow. But I agree, intercooler>meth for a DD car.

I think we did around 4 pulls at that power level. She was out of fuel with 03 cobra pumps, so we never got the chance to add much timing. I've added twin focus pumps, but haven't gotten around to dyno'ing it. I wouldn't recomend the power level to a customer who wanted their car to last. Those power numbers are at 6,000rpm, but my redline is set at 6500.

good info guys! chris, why would you not recomend those type of power leverls to someone? your not running that on a stock block are you? if your built why would those power levels be bad?

you lost low end tq through the intercooler?

Check out my car domain site.

It only took about 2-3 hours to cut and fit them up.
