i plan on doing turbo in my mustang and have an intercooler laying around and i know that with colder air creates more power but has anyone ever hooked up an intercooler to there intake with no power adder? im courios if anyone has done this before and if it helped or made the car run bad or run normal? just courios about this one i was thinking about where i could store it and the car would be best but i dont want to install it so i was thinking about the cars performance because of the colder the air the more hp. if you did this what results did you have if not whats your theory on this topic?

So your asking if its ok to run an intercooler without any type of forced induction....right???

You would see NO power gain and quite possibly a power loss due to excessive intake piping. The reason intercoolers and aftercoolers are used, is because turbos and superchargers generate enormous amounts of heat. The air being pushed/sucked through them into the motor isnt ideal for combustion because its much warmer then ambient air temputatures. An "air to air" or "air to water" intercooler is used to bring the temps below ambient (normal) air temps for optimuim combustion, resulting in more "power".

In other words...It would be a waste of time. Find out what type of intercooler is it and the dimensions on it. Every intercooler has a maximum flow number to it, and when reached, the air flowing is not being cooled due to the low effeciency of the intercooler..
