This fall i'll be yanking the 408 out of my Pinto and replacing it with a roller 302 (built bottom end) and adding a single turbo (Masterpower T70 or Masterpower 62-1) i'm not sure yet. It will still be E.F.I I'm just wondering if there is any interest from the Mustang II crowd in making a kit for this. I have to build it from scratch using flipped and modified aftermarket 5 liter shorty headers, putting the turbo in the drivers side fenderwell. This setup would work on EFI and on blow thru carb applications with front mount intercooler and passenger side feed tube to carb or throttle body. Is there any interest in this? Both turbos are capable of enough boost to split a factory block in half (550 or so with the 62-1 turbo and 700 with the T70). My friend ownes a '74 II with a 302 and he will be watching my progress, if all goes well, he wants me to build him a kit.

I'd certainly be interested. I've always wanted to build a turbo application. However instead of buying shorty headers why not make your own? Also it seems like putting the turbo in the fender would require some difficult plumbing to run hot exhaust both in and out of the fenderwells.

I'd be interested, but it probably wouldn't be for a couple of years. Is this setup going to be intercooled?

I've always envisioned my II being turbocharged one day...First things first though, getting the car on the road. Keep us up to date on the progress

i'm just seeing if there is any interest. My plans may change for locations and such....but i doubt it. It will be intercooled, using a bar and plate front mount up under the bumper.....it will be visable but i don't really care about stealth. I don't have any inner fenders, i cut them out, i could mount the turbo anywhere i want really. I just have to make sure i have the room for the 3 inch down pipe, going back infront of the back wheel with a 3 inch bullet muffler. It cost more money and takes more time to make your own headers from scratch, i could do it, but the shorties will make the job faster and cheaper. When my project gets going i'll start another thread and post pictures as i go. My car has no power steering, i'm sure it'll make the headerbuild and turbo location alot easier for me.

I will be watching progress also.

I have a sweet mini tubbed 77 II hatch that i will start on some day. The motor i am going with will be a 89 5.0 roller block with a blow threw carb and a HX35. for the no wires Pro Street look.
