Called SVT today to find out about 04 production numbers. They said there were 1800+ Cobra convertibles produced this year. Mine was # 1632 or something close (wrote it down somewhere and lost it...lol...). But the interesting fact was there are only 72 Competition orange converts! I had no idea that the production numbers were that low. Anyone know of a lower production color than the orange? I always thought the mystic's were the lowest.

You know, I always found it funny how the mystichrome or mystic for that matter hasnt been the most rare color for the cobras. I mean you would think that with it being the special paint and all they would make them real rare. But in 1996, the Mystic Coupe was second in paint schemes only behind the black coupes. Granted, they only offered 3 other colors besides Mystic in '96, but still it would be a little bit more cool in my opinion to say hey not only is this paintjob stunning, its also the rarest there is, when in all reality its not.

1996 color Builds
Cobra Coupe: Black 2124; White 1429; Laser Red 1940; Mystic 2000; TOTAL: 7493
Cobra Convertible: Black 1054; Laser Red 962; White 494; TOTAL: 2510
They weren't far off from making more Mystics than they did total verts!

I have only heard a little about the 04 production in paint, but if you look at the discontinued colors from '03, you can see with coupes, that Every one of these colors save Sonic Blue is more rare than the Mystichrome!
D.S.Grey 851; M.Grey 302; Blue 1,052; S.Silver; 242;

With all that said now, Mystichrome and Mystic are still worth more and gonna be worth more in the future, because it is a limited edition paint, and pretty darn cool looking for that matter too.

Found a pretty cool site with all of the 03 and 04 production numbers:
Here are the coupes
2004 Cobra COUPES BY COLOR
Color Name Body Style Units Sold
Screaming Yellow Coupes 299
Competition Orange Coupes 281
White Coupes 316
Torch Red Coupes 477
RedFire Coupes 509
Mysti-Chrome Coupes 515
Silver Metallic Coupes 551
Black Coupes 820
Total Coupes: 3,768
Here are the Convertibles
2004 Cobra Convertibles BY COLOR
Screaming Yellow Convertibles 167
Competition Orange Convertibles 72
White Convertibles 128
Torch Red Convertibles 167
RedFire Convertibles 209
Silver Metallic Convertibles 266
Black Convertibles 392
Mystic-Chrome Convertibles 495
Total Convertibles: 1,896

Based on those, the comp orange is the rarest Cobra conv. produced. It wasn't a color in 03. I guess I stumbled across the rarest convertible... wow....

Here is the website: http://www.yellowmustangregistry.com/Production04Cobra.html
The numbers seem the same as what the SVT rep said.
