hey guys. i haven't posted in a while because i've been too busy enjoying college life

anyway, i just started having a starting issue. when i turn the key to start, the starter and solenoid don't make any noise. then, if i release the clutch and depress it again, the starter will kick on and the car will start fine.

does this mean the clutch pedal position switch is bad? all the wiring connections on the starter and solenoid seem fine. i checked the ignition switch, and there is continuity in all the right places for the start position. however, there is a lack of coninuity where it is supposed to be according to my haynes manual in the off, locked, run, and acc. settings. could this affect starting somehow? i haven't noticed any other electrical issues with the car.

if you have any insight, ideas, or experience with this, your help would be appreciated!

btw, i double posted this in the 94/95 tech forum and the 5.0 tech forum...

replace the clutch switch and see what happens, its a cheap part anyhow.

Or you could do this, bypass the clutch switch and if the car starts up every time, you found your problem.

The clutch safety switch is adjustable. The switch slides on plastic ribs. So try adjusting it and see what happens when starting.

If you punch the clutch pedal hard while driving (like put your foot through the floor), it can adjust the switch so that it is hard to get start the car next time (you would have to replicate pushing the clutch pedal through the floor).

Good luck.
