I need to know what everyone uses to clean their door panels and the dash/console/everything plastic in their cars. I bought my 1991 GT from a guy who smoked like a freight train. The door panels are pretty dingy and the console looks pretty bad as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I use armor-all on all that stuff. But my interior is mint, i simply use it to keep it shiny. Armor-all brings out the color for awhile, but it doesn't last. I would suggest either repainting your panels so they are nice, or try the product "Back in Black" its made for any rubber, plastic, pretty much anything black. And that looks really good. but again it only lasts so long before it wears off! :D

will using armor all on painted dash board and interior parts shine or will it have any effect towards the paint ?

Plexus Plastic Cleaner, Protectant, and Polisher.

I got a bottle of this stuff at my local Jeg's store and it is really amazing. It cleans like no other interior cleaner I have had, it leaves a very nice looking shine on things (not like the unnaturally glossy finish other products leave), and best of all there is no slick residue left over. A bottle is pretty pricey at $10, but for what it does it is worth every penny.

For some reason on the Jegs website it is listed as a window cleaner when you can look at the picture of the bottle and it clearly says plastic cleaner  http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_420965_-1

Don't worry about that...just order a bottle and prepare to be impressed. For me this one product replaces the Tuff-Stuff cleaner for initial grime cleaning and Armor All for polishing. Hell maybe it actually does clean glass as well and it will replace Windex too :p

armor-all also drys the plastic's out

Armor-all contains alcohol which dries out the plastic and causes cracks

Lexol Vinylex is a better product to use

Armor-all has the best shine of all the products i've used, even Lexol Vinylex. And you claim it drys it out? My panels, dash, and everything are still perfect and i've been using it for years. Not a problem with mine! :D

never use armor all!!!! those are the worst products ever!!!!! its a shops worst nightmare to learn that thats what a customer is using. depending on what type of surface you are cleaning there is a different product. 3m or meguiars has some of the best products for regular vinyl and plastic parts cleaner. if your cleaning leather, make sure u use lexol ph leather cleaner and conditioner...you wont regret it for a minute. and for convertible tops, look for 303 aerospace. this is all i use at my personal shop, and it shows in all my work, and customers love the end result. with the leather it will last for ever!

To clean the plastic, vinyl, dash and such. I had awesome results with Simple Green, spray it on and clean it with the back of a sponge and wipe dry, the back of a sponge as in that soft but somewhat aggressive material, or my friend that details has used a very very fine scotch brite pad....This Will get any dug-in dirt, oil, grease out of the pores of the plastic or vinyl, basically strip anything that's on it, all the layers of handprint oil, stains, all the layers of protectant throughout the years. I've done it twice on mine, Before I had just used normal detailer thinking it cleaned it good, the first time I used the above method I could see right away the difference in before and after. You can use it concentrate or dilute it in a little bucket of water. This Will dry out the plastic or vinyl so you have to put on a coat or two of vinyl protectant and you'll see a totally brighter shine, mine looked like it just came out of the factory no joke. If it harms the vinyl I have no scientifical aspect on that but mines been fine for over 2 years and my friend's done it to all his cars and he's owned over 13 cars lol and he's only 20. I also have heard bad about armor all, or also anything that contains silicone (like some tireshine, look in the ingredients) which will dry out rubber faster like on a tire.
