i'm wondering if anyone's ever taken the interior fuse panel off to get to the wiring.

reason: i'm installing my guages (finally--though, just the lights for now) and i wanted to tap into the illumination circuit.

last night i ghetto-rigged it by sticking the wire in w/ the fuse, but i'm not comfortable with that. plan is: **use a wire-tap to tap into the illumination wire from behind the fuse panel instead of sticking the loose end of the wire in w/ the fuse.

anyone ever done this?

Paul, it's easier IMHO to grab dimmed power at the back of the headlight switch. Just in case that's an option for you...............

If your just wanting light power do what Hissin posted. I am in the process of doing that and making a seperate fuse panel/elec. system for other things but the best way for the guage lights will be at the switch...you should even be able to keep the dim feature.

thanks guys. that's what i initially wanted to do, JT--grab power from the headlight switch wiring (bought the t-taps for that). i didn't have my volt-meter handy though, so i couldn't test for power.

would either of you gents happen to remember the wire color? thanks!

Paul, Light Blue/red is sticking in my brain for dimmed lighting. If you have a test light, ground the test-light, touch the other end of the test-light to this LB/Red wire, and run the dimmer down. Your test light will dim as you run the rhoestat down.

Good luck.
