interior paint (dye)

Just recently used Duplicolor's Vinyl & Fabric Paint on my '86 GT 'vert this weekend. Went on really well and dried fast, no sticky or tacky texture to it at all. It's probably a good idea to use their primer first, perhaps even a quick spray of some Bulldog Adhesion Promoter underneath that, even, to make it really hang on. (My parts were already primered prior to my use of this paint.)

Unless you're looking for a specific factor color, this might be a cheaper and better way to go. I've read of some guys having problems with the paints sold by 50resto in that they're all clumpy and dried-out before they even get the can shipped to 'em, thus resulting in splatter and bad consistency.

It scratches easy though. I scratched the kick panel and the strip along the door jamb. (whatever it's called) :(

FWIW, I didn't primer mine, so that might explain the ease by which it was scratched off. (Dumb, I know, but it's likely temporary until I can re-do it properly later on.) Also, they do have it available in a flat-black and (I think) satin, if you don't prefer the glossy look. Just another option to consider.

I hate 'Dye' with a passion

its not really 'dye' its paint and it will scratch off.

I have no dyed parts in my car, even though I should...my interior is tan and I couldn't find one passenger side armrest plug in tan so it is grey, a new old stock piece....

any one want to help me out

Whenever I roam a pickapart I always look for my interior color and grab whatever little bits I can.

I just received a can of the Resto gray paint and used it on parts of my center console I'm rebuilding. It went on great, matched great, and seems to be pretty durable. I'm happy with their paint product. BTW, I did spray a light coat of the Bulldog adhesion stuff on first. I found the Bulldog stuff at Wal Mart of all places.
