Been dealing with a starting issue with my 99GT. It has trouble starting after driving for a while. If the car sits after cruise nights and gets hot, after 30 or 40 min it doesnt fire. Itll crank but doesnt turn over. This doesnt happen all the time. Itll be ok other times or be waiting and wondering. Heres the tricky part. When I crank it and it doesnt turn over ill let the car sit for about 30 min walk back out to it and itll fire right up! Confusing and VERY frustrating. Theft light blinks like a --- -- --- sequence, so im sure it could be that. If so, anyway I can bypass the security? New key? Battery/alternator fresh. Any suggestions would help. Kinda embarrassing my car doesnt start at the end of a cruise night...

Had a similiar problem, they replaced the module that controls the anti theft. it was a $150 part. Maybe this helps you.

First, try it with NOTHING on the key. No rings or anything that could be interferring with the signal.

What are the cluster diagnostic codes? Access the cluster diagnostic mode and review the codes. Often this will give clues (if not tell you outright) what is wrong with the PATS system.

Without the codes, it's an educated guess.

Regarding your question about bypassing security, no real method other than to disable with a hand held programmer. There is no "magic" wire that can be cut to disable security.

However, there is a trick that some ppl use for example when a key breaks. Simply tape the top portion of a broken key to the steering column. The would allow the use of a cheap replacement key.
