:bang: does anyone sell repro metal for the roof brace for a coupe 65 mustang?? The part that is inbetween the rear window and the 1/4 window. I don't know how else to explain it sorry. :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

This is how i understand it. The pillars connecting the roof to the body are named in sequential order, starting with A. So the A pillar is the "bar" next to the windshield, and the B Pillar would be the one by the rear glass. Youre talking about your B pillar rusting through?

ok does anyone make the brace that goes on the inside of the B pillar??? I replaced the 1/4 now i just need the brace and I can't find anyone that makes these. It welds to the top of the roof and to where the rear windsheild goes in at.

Actually, i think the B pillar us usually between the front and rear side windows, and the C pillar is the last one. But our mustangs dont have these, so I dont have these pillars in the middle, so I dont know what to think

Oh ,
I forgot to mention most people call the rear roof piece a "Sail Panel" . Im not sure of it is rotten on your car or if the package tray is rotten , or both .
There is no current repops for the package tray and roof frame . I contacted Dynacorn and they are supposed to have a coupe roof shell reproduction in the works .
That will help with alot of cars that normally would end up getting a vinyl top after roof repairs from rust .
I have a theory that most of the rust in the sail panel areas of these cars is due to the factory leaded seam . They used a flux to make the lead grab onto the metal and the flux is highly corrosive . If it's not neutralized correctly , it will cause rust . I think that's why many east coast cars rot there as we have more moisture and it gets the flux working .
West coast cars seem to not suffer from it due to the lower moisture content of the air .
That's why I went to far with mine to try and rid it of any leftover flux so when I slap my new roof panel on I should never see rust in the roof again .
I also had to repair my package tray as it was rotten in one corner .
If you don't exile the rust , it will haunt your car forever .

I am not talking about the roof pannel that I need. What I need is the brace that welds on the inside of the car on the "B pillar". Does anyone know if these are being reproed or not???? Thanks for all the help!:nice:

He needs the inner structure behind the B-pillar/rear sail panel.

I have a picture of the area off my '63 Fairlane. I cut the structure out to lose weight as it'll be a drag only car with a full cage. You can still see two overspray spots where the structure allowed the paint thru to the inside of the outer skin.

That would be the inner roof frame . It is not reproduced . You either have to scab in pieces to fix whatever is wrong or get a bigger donor piece from a parts car . I had to fix mine , it's not hard but it's not fun either .
I bought a NOS roof panel for my car off ebay so it's easy for me to fix but hard if your roof is still on .

yes that is what I need the inner structuer of the "sail pannel" or the B pillar. I have a pic of mine but I have no clue how to post pictures. Are you sure these aren't reproduced?????????????/:eek:

Yup, that and the roof skin are not reproduced. I don't think the package tray support, nor the inner structure for the quarters in the passenger compartment, nor the panel that the seat mounts to below the package tray are reproduced either, or last I knew they weren't. You'll have to cut them out of another car. I used to have a parts car that was an early '65, but it's gone now.

The only reproduction is when you take a piece of metal and beat and mash it to look like the original , at this time :(

Believe me , I WISH there was a repop .
