This isn't for the hardcore stangers, but for those of you who like me don't mind getting a little weight savings or performance gain when replacing a worn part, get the Interstate MT-58 battery to replace your stocker when the time comes. No, it isn't as light as some of those small summer-only batteries that some people run, but it does weigh 9 pounds less than the stock Motorcraft battery. The stock Motorcraft battery weighs 38 pounds (I weighed it); the MT-58 weighs only 28.8 pounds. Instant 9 pound weight savings off the front end, driver's side of the car. And there's no other trade-off, which is the best part. Both have the same Cranking Amps (675) and more importantly the same Cold Cranking Amps (540) that the stock Motorcraft battery has.

My battery is over 5 years old and was showing signs of wear as the temps dipped lately here in the Midwest, so I replaced it today with the Interstate MT-58. I paid $75 for mine from a local Interstate battery dealer.

Nice. Weight savings, especially on the front, is always good.
