IRS in a 5.0?

it would handle like a dream if you got the right shocks and what not. you wouldnt lose any performance until you got into the big power and started snapping axles. it would make your car handle much better and launch much better

ya i have been very intrested in this sense the irs came out in the cobras, dont they get horable wheel hope though? i would assume it would still be there in our 5.0s. i read they do bolt right up with little fabrication, mostly just removing **** and drilling new holes.

An IRS is only going to benefit you if you're into autocross racing or you're just looking for a smooth handling street car. If you're at all interested in drag racing, stick with a nice 5 link rear suspension like MM sells or something like it, and it'll corner nearly as good if not better than some custom IRS setup, and you'll still be able to drag race your ass off.

The other problem with the IRS is the width! The 9+ cars are about 3" wider total on the rear track than the fox cars. This is like pumping a huge dose of understeer into the handling of the car. Thus the mention at the end of the article it was removed for a more traditional 3 link.

It is going to take some time to dial in the handling and buy a K member designed for the IRs out back.

yes the 99+ irs rearend fits in a fox.. the only real problem is the width as someone else said.. brake lines.. but everything else is basically bolt in..

the ride is better then stock fox.. but a watts link, panhard bar setup is the better way to go if you want the best handling
