I have a guy with an 04 Cobra wanting to swap his IRS for my solid axle. Since I don't ever plan to drag race the car I feel this is a good swap. I really just wanted better gearing than my 327's which the IRS will give me as well with 355's.

Has anyone else done this swap? Of course, my swap should be easier since I already have a New Edge body.

The swap is pretty bolt in. The 04 has a different ujoint so you will need an adapter ujoint. Your brake lines are already located in the right place though you probably should replace the hoses while you are there. I am not sure how the rear bracket that holds the cradle will bolt up on your year. I had to drill holes in my frame rail where the quad shock normally goes but it wasn't hard to do either.

Thanks for the reply! How did the car feel after the swap? Was it worth it in your opinion?

Well, the guy is starting to shy away from the deal. His (and my) tuner is telling him he'll be better off keeping the IRS. Got my hopes up for nothing!

That's unfortunate. I always wondered what my car would be like with IRS.

I just swapped an irs into my 95 last summer and I love it. Did the Full Tilt Boogie delrin bushings and what a difference. I decided it was a street car and I like corners so i'm loving it.
