Is it possible to put down 400rwhp without a S/C? Other than aluminum drive shaft and possibly 3.73 or 4.10, I have a few mods in mind like new intake, heads, cams, and a bigger CAI. My goal is to keep my motor stock looking.

I think it is possible and im going to try to do it, with stock displacemnet, all the bolt-ons, heavily port/polished heads and stage 4 cams, custom dyno tune

it may happen after these miracle intakes hit the market. FAST is claiming +40hp gains from an intake swap. that is probably at the crank, and with all the other mods. thats the only way i can see getting 40 ponies from the intake. it will take aggressive cams, port/polish heads, full exhaust, all the aluminum goodies you can add to the driveline, etc.

only time will tell. brenspeed got 347 rwhp with cams and other bolt on parts. http://www.brenspeed.com/tech/compcams.html

No way. Without a tune, s/c, or turbo(s) set up, there is NO way that you will put down 400 hp. at the MOST, you will be throwing down 280-315ish.

o sorry man, i didnt see that you have an 07 GT. Yeah, with a GT it COULD be possible. 400 to the wheels, is pushing it. You could def put it to the crank though. Probably about 350 rwhp.

yeah. that was before I saw he's running a Gt. For some reason i thought it was a 6er. But, with his mods, no way he's at 400. On top of the mods that he wants, he would need a pretty decent tune to go with it

the saleen parnelli jones puts out 400 at the crank, of course its got a built motor turned into a 302, higher compression and all, but i guess that can be turned up to 400rwhp easily with some tune and headers and an intake.

Sounds Cool

I would like to do the same, and make horsepower naturally asperated. In doing so, are there some cams out there that actually have the kind of sweet lumpy idle and old man is used to?
Its a childish question I guess, Id'e rather go fast and idle normally, but a sweet 'cammy" idle would be the best sound system I could have.

someone on here already hit 347rwhp just with bolt-ons, cams and tune, i think it is very achievable to hit 400 rwhp with these 4.6L 3v on stock displacement, im looking to get in the 325rwhp area with just an intake/exhuast and tune

my best pull was 357rwhp and 334 rwtq thats with ported heads, cams, vct deleted, manley rods,cp pistons high but streetable compression, full mac exhaust, aftermarket fuel rails, ported and gutted charge motion plates. i still run stock injectors, throtle body, pulleys, coils, drive shaft. heads ported by kris starnes champion racing and motor was built by al papitto boss 330. you might get close to 380 if you use all bolt ons and are a little more radical with cams and bore and stroke but then if Fasts new intake is for real than it could be alittle easier and it will make me happy too

seems like u could use a better tune, but we will see, i'm shootin for around 330rwhp with all the boltons so that means heads and cams and maybe a new intake will need to get me around 70rwhp which i think is possible. I know you can do it with the 302 stroker, but i want to do with stock displacement, wish me luck lol

350 rwhp is about the best anyone has done so far with cams and the typical bolt ons. I'm not sure of the extent of the other head work done to the car like larger valves and port/polishing. The valves are kind of small on these engines. I personally don't think 400 rwhp is possible. 281 CID just doesn't get that high N/A.

Well you could get pretty close to 400rwhp but you would need to have a car with very good stock numbers, cai, charge motion deletes, tune, pullies, driveshaft, lt headers, midpipe, mufflers, stg. 4 comp cams, P&P Stg. 3 Heads, and fine tuning on a dyno.
