I ask this question because of the location in which I want to mount the MSD 6al. In the pictures you will see that it is mounted on the frame rail but open to the bottom. I am concerned that it will get wet and fail. I am currently running out of space in the engine bay. Is the MSD water tight and would you install in this location??

I had thought about that but I have the starter solenoid and a bunch of wring already there. I also just bought an Anderson power pipe which is very large. Maybe inside the car under the dash. I thought it would get good airflow, but failed to think about water.

The MSD box is not water tight. It is very sensitive to water. I believe the off road one they offer is though. I was able to mount mine on the reverse side of the fender where the battery sits.

Kevin's advice is what I'd have said too. I imagine that even when you have storms in Fl that aren't given names :D , you can get some deep water on the roadways.

I suppose you could mount it inside the car too.

Good luck.

Should be good enough. Also you don't have to deal with hot air from the radiator and engine heat in the engine compartment. I bought the summit MSD mount for the fox and couldn't figure out where exactly they thought it was suppose to go but I think they mounted it pretty close to the headers on the shock tower. Another thought to keep it in the engine bay is to get a CAI and put the MSD box where the stock airbox was. That was my plan but am too lazy to rewire all that stuff again.
