Is everyone's water pump going out?? WTF!?

Last weekend my water pump decided it wanted to stop spinning, and spray coolant all over the engine bay. So I check all of the local parts stores and everyone is out all of the autozones, and checkers ect. So then I check all of the dealers and they are all out as well. In addition, their prices all ranged from $100-$140 for the STOCK pump. I do some searching on here and find the FMS one is $50 at Jegs, so I call them and they say they have it in stock. I order it (this is Monday) and get next day shipping (my car is a dd). Needless to say it never showed up so I call them and they say they are all out and Ford isn't shipping new ones till the 29th It's also a special order item from Summit. I don't know what to do next.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm freakin' pissed and I need my car.

If anyone can think of something else to try I would GREATLY appreciate it!

You could try Stewart Components. They might be able to get you one.

Jegs is the cheapest AFAIK. Sorry to hear about the back order. Try the dealer. You'll pay through the nose but you said you have to have it?

when i went to my local parts store for a waterpump on the turnkey motor i built at that time the salesguy said that their warehouse had only sold 7 of those water pumps ever...

My point is that people may not have it because it doesn't go bad very often...

just a possibility

I bought a stock one a while back off of Ebay for like $35. It wasnt new but it was remanufactured (same stuff you get at Autozone, Advance). I'd go with something nonstock tho to keep from having the same problem again.

Call an auto recycler, or go to a self serve wrecking yard if there is one close. My local pick-n-pull charges about $20 for a used water pump, and they have plenty of 5.0's to pull them off of.

It won't be new, but it will keep you on the road untill jegs shipps out your pump.

Guys, thanks for all of the ideas.
I decided to calm down, and rough it out this week (thank God I'm not in the police academy yet), thanks to mi ma for the car for work. Jegs wouldn't have been able to get me the FMS wp until April, which sucks cause I was wondering how it would perform at ~$80 cheaper than stock.
Mrgreen94gt, thanks for the link! I ended up ordering a stage 1 wp from Stewart Components and should receive it tomorrow. $122 total ($75 for the pump, shipping= ), and I'll be sure to post a thread as to the quality and service of Stewart Components. Maybe it'll lower my temps

Glad to be of help.

I've gotta get a new pump soon and I've been considering the Stewart and the Ford one in Jegs. I wonder how helpful the higher flow is, since the stockers seem to do well with good supporting hardware.
