Is it possible to hit 13,s with my mods?

i'm not saying 100+mph and 13s is unheard of, its very common.

i was just saying the mph is high for the "lack of mods" so to speak.
not for the time he gave.

i've ran 12.8 @106 and 13.2@106, i was saying 104 mph on a stock engine, is pretty unheard of.
its happened i'm sure, maybe?
lol, i know guys who have gone 102 on stock engines, thats pretty awesome.

My brother had an 88 gt his best was an 13:74 @104mph.
3:08 gears ,Air cold [dryer tube ] K/N All stock besides that.
With an 245-255 Street tire.

Later on he swaped out for gears.. it didn't work out for him..
after 3:27 or 3:73[don't remember] he didn't get any fast.. got slower.

Couldn't brake 101mph or 13:90's With new gear


I know local guy that's are not hiting over 100+ mph with modded 5.0s' ...
It's all in the driver.. some sad driver -that's all i can say-

I'd be willing to bet something was done to the car your brother didn't know...(by the previous owner perhaps)...because that mph is un heard of...whether it be speed density or not...and the only case where I have seen gears actually hurt a 87-93 is on the autos when they go with to much gear (410's for example)...373's are "probably" the best all around gear in my opinion...

un heard of... yea i heard that a few times..

to bad it's True, & stock . This was back in 1989' There was no aftermarket for parts like there is now for 5.0's..

Got it new from dealer..
Stock clutch lasted 25k miles, stock fuel pump-30k miles.

This car was a factory freak, that's why i love the 5.0 /5-speed set up so much.

If you never seen an 5.0 run 103-104mph.. Should be beating on it Harder !

87 SD notch, 5spd, 3:73, stock upper intake, stock TB, stock cam retarded 4*, tmoss lower intake, long tubes, stock heads, stock injectors (Math302HO) - 12.7@107mph

BUT his car weighed 3100#!!!!!!!

You got to be kidding me :rlaugh: ...the 93 Cobra had gt40 heads, 1.7 RR's and Cobra intake along with some other things...it is not the same engine as a "stock 5.0"...you need to learn more before saying something you don't know...

104 mph is high for a stock engine car, but i'm not saying its a lie.

HOWEVER, give me 104mph to work with and watch a 12.999 or 13.000 come flying up on the boards!

13.7 can be done with 98mph.
he could have milked that time much more, i'm willing to be the 60' could have used some work.

gears should have helped.

Easily go 13s provided yo have good traction and drive the snot out of it.

Here's a link to my buddies high mile 86 GT thats still running the E6 heads and has gone 13.50s @ 99 MPH so far.

It weighs 3120 LBs with 1/2 tank of fuel and him in the car [he's 140 LBs LOL]. We did do some gutting and what not but he ran the #s with full interior and stuff.. no ripping seats out or anything like that.

Before I put my heads and intake on, my notch went 13.11 @ 102.74 MPH [1.77 60'] stock motor top to bottom, stock H pipe and cats, stock suspension. Get a gear, some slicks, K&N, underdrive pulleys, 15* timing, and a cat back exhaust, some sound deadener removal, and anyone should be able to run mid 13s or better in one of these cars as long as they are in a good state of tune.

Hook it hard and drive it harder.

Yeah but do you think 104mph is possible with just a k&n air filter, stock gears, no weight reduction? Very very unlikely...some good drivers with mild h/c/i combos only get 105-106 with gears and other little things to help them...that is one of those things I would have to see a video of :shrug:
