I have no problem with you paying some guy to build your car really, but you say dumb **** like trying to tell people all imports suck, and that carb is better than efi simply because your efi setup sucked ass.

hmmm does hellion really make a twin turbo set up .....

anywho i kinda have a local rivalry going on with a good buddy of mine and his turbo civic ....

both cars are street cars , we both do all the work to our cars , and both cars can be driven anywhere ...

our goal is to see who will be first into the 10's and so far i hate to say it hes beating me hes been 11.005 at 131 and ive been 11.16 at 122 ....

now as far as money goes he probally has 8k tied up in the WHOLE car ...... not bad IMO

B18C5 Honda Type-R engine ~180hp
vs
89-ish Ford 5.0 HO ~225hp

both starting totally bone stock

$10k budget

all else being equal (engine builders skill, quality of parts, etc)

the 5.0 will make more power, and more reliably.

a performance oriented V8 will 99.999% of the time make more power than the 4, when it comes down to it, there is no replacement for displacement

So because a stock 5.0 has more potential maybe cheaper, everyone should have to use the same car??? Give me a break. So because you THINK its the best easiest way to go fast, its the ONLY way to go?

Hell an old school Chevy guy would day your dumb as dirt because a stock 350 with a carb will go faster than a 5.0 for cheaper!

And if you buy your stuff and font build it, your opinion means nothing, as you have NO idea what it takes to make something fast!

was this directed towards my post? if so then im confused...i was simply giving an example, and used the 5.0 being that this is a mustang board and all...i never said a thing about everyone using the same car or w/e you seem to have fabricated...

the point was that a well built V8 will be able to outperform a well built 4cylinder when given the same budget to work with

what the real point is, though, is that no matter what vehicle or engine you are dealing with money speed = money, how fast can you afford to go?

the 4cyl starts at a disadvantage and costs more in order to make it perform as well as or better than the V8, which is one of the reasons i prefer the V8 over the 4.

No that was a general towards all the brand loyal and blind people who think there is only one way to go fast, when the truth is there are millions. I think being so brand loyal that you piss and moan about everyone elses choices is sad.

It is all about spending money, and sure some people are poor and cant afford to go fast, but for those who can and want to do it with 4 cyl, maybe they get a satisfaction from it. Same thing when I take down a HCI car with my E7 stock cammed one. Sure I could go faster with some TFS heads and cam, but like being the underdog!

I would just like to point out... if you throw out the 10k budget.. and make it a little more reasonable.. such as 1-2k.. then you have to consider the wonders of the turbo 4 cars.

Stock with forced induction... it costs very very little to make very large gains all things considered.

If you handed me a stock 5.0 and a stock 91 or so AWD TSI talon. and gave me a grand to work with each... I believe I could make the Talon much much quicker for the money. easily.

My 5.0 has forced induction... so i dont worry about the turbo 4's much lol.

With a little bit of know-how and access to the proper tools it's quite easy to fab up a turbo kit for less than 2k for a fox stang. It can be done for less than 1.5k if you are patient enough…and closer to 1k if you cut some corners. The wonder of turbo 4 cars at that point is thrown right out the window…as you'll have a 11 second or better capable fox for next to nothing.

In the end…as the old saying goes, there truly is no replacement for displacement.

I would build a rotary car and then say I beat you without cylinders. I just helped my friend re-build his RX7 and it is scary what that thing can do with an engine smaller than my microwave oven.
