my 92 5.0 never overheats, passed a pressure test and a block leak test has a new radiator cap and a properly installed oem thermostat. I flushed and filled the radiator and really didn't get any crud out. Pushed water thru th radiator and block with no problem at all. That being said it never builds pressure in the upper radiator hose. Every vehicle I have ever owned pressurizes the upper hose and i believe they are all supposed to. If you pull the heater core hoses or any other small hose it pumps coolant out like it should with the car running. So with a hot engine it should heat the coolant and cause pressure in the system, it does not. You can pull the radiator cap whenever you want and not spill a drop. What gives?

Are you sure the lower intake is not leaking? also are you sure the water pump/timing cover is not leaking?..sounds like a leak to me. You said it never runs hot ..but how hot does it get? If it never gets real hot and you can't find a leak ..it could be the water pump or still the thermostat..instead of overheating it could be overcooling the engine. But that depends on how hot your engne gets..does it ever reach normal temp or over?

should have added more info. car is never driven, in resto process. BUT i let it run till it reaches normal operating temp, smack dab in the center of the guage. no leaks, pressure test would hold forever.

problem found and fixed. small coolant hose not fully tightened. drip of coolant every ten to twenty seconds. found and tightened, cooling system has pressure now.
