About a year ago, my car developed the intermidate(sp) squeel when the clutch pedal is not pushed in. It doesn't happen all that much, when it does, I just tap the clutch pedal with the top of my shoe.

Now, sometimes my clutch feels "rough" or "crunchy" when I press it. Kind of hard to explain. Almost like you're pushing the pedal into a bucket of pebbles. It doesn't happen all the time. But I have a feeling it's linked to the TOB...

I should probably double check to see if it does it in neutral...(not just when i'm clutchin' to switch gears) ...would this make a difference?

When it happens I don't want to 'get on it' at all and possibly break something.

any suggestions? Or maybe ideas on other possible causes?

Yep...thats the TOB. If it has disntigrated like mine it is eating into the clutch fingers on the pressure plate. I'd go ahead and upgrade if you still have the stocker.

Yeah man I hate to tell you but it definetly sounds like your TOB. It will still do it in neutral. In fact it will happen every time you push in the clutch.

yeah, that's what I thought. I adjusted the clutch and it hasn't squeeked yet, and the clutch pedal felt okay, but not super smooth. Previous to the adjustment, it wasn't happening all the time... it was wierd. Oh well, i'll probably just replace it when I replace the clutch in the future.

What causes a TOB to wear?

An after market quadrant adjuster kit will help you immensely with the age on your setup.

I would highly recommend this as your next mod.

I bought a 99 GT a little over two years ago. It now has 51k miles on it and my TOB has squealed since the day I got it. Am I ruining something by continuing to drive it like it is? The clutch feels normal I don't think it slips at all.

I get that same squeal, whenever it happens you can just tap in the clutch and it'll stop, but sometimes might come back when you let off. It seems very sporatic, and the kind of squeal changes too. Sometimes it can get really bad.

I am under warrenty, would this cover TOB?

Yeah when my TOB started going out ford told me to replace it immediately. They told me it could damage the output shaft on the tranny. Thats what ford said so take it for what its worth. But as cheap as it is to replace the clutch, pressure plate and TOB. I would go ahead and do it all at once.
