Couple questions for you guys, first of all is it important to have the self adjusting tensioner?
And does anyone use the March alternator bracket? I want to get this bracket kit.
for a look like this
But I dont know if I can use that. I dont have a/c but I have powersteering, do I need to get the kit that goes from the powersteering pump to the alternator like this?
I dont understand why I would need that can someone explain if I have to use that one because I have PS? This kit should work fine with a 3g alternator right? I shouldn't have to make any modifications? And again what are the effects of removing the self adjusting tensioner?
Thanks.

only thing I can think of is just having to adjust it when the belt stretches. I have seen them used plenty of time. The stock tensioner just allows for easier adjustment. other than that the march would work just fine. I have seen peeps go to that when all the have is the alternator when they delete the p/s and a/c since it is a much more simplified look and no real need of the stock tensioner with just the alternator
so you wanna use the march set up? but you still wanna use the stock tensioner?or you dont want to use the stock tensioner? the kit comes with a turnbuckle in the kit thats your adjustment so you no longe ruse the stock tensioner. My buddy had that march kit and in order for his alt bracket to bolt to the alt we had to grind on the brackey it's no biggie and it didnt affect the finish,I also had do grind the same piece for my summit kit. We both have 3g upgrades.I'm glad i put his march system on so i had a good idea when i seen mine i would have to also. peace

I took a different approach. Since I'd removed the smog pump a long time ago, I just had the stock alternator/smog pump mounting bracket shortened like this"
It saved a couple of lb and gained some underhood space.

I use that kit.Its pretty nice. used it with the ford ac delete that relocates the PS. Recently dumped the power steering and it looks like it will work fine with just the alt, water pump and crank.
i'll be running that same kit, when i put the turbo on my car, that bracket kit seems to be popular on turbo cars, it rolls the alternator closer to the motor to give more clearance on the passenger side for turbos or pipes or wastegates etc etc.
it also gets rid of the fat ugly stock alt bracket.

i'm about to buy the kit...just curious, this completely gets rid of the tensioner, and bracket right? I wont be running the smog pump so judging from the pic I can completely pull the bracket and pump as one?
