The redline appears to be set at either 6000 or 6250, just like the current car. Rmember, these are essentially truck heads, and may not flow real well much beyond that rpm level.

The real limiting factor, though, is probably the valve springs, as in the current car. Better springs (and maybe different cams, depending on how the stock ones are set up) would probably get you to 6500-7000, but there's no guarantee the car would make any more power up there without porting the heads or a different intake.
 
Since I'm not a 1/4 mile guy, I'd rather have lots of low end torque than high rpm horsepower. After all, that's what counts in daily driving,and it's why the Honda S2000 is such a slug in traffic. How often can you get that car up to high revs during your normal trips around town?. Extreme examples maybe, but I hope you get my point.

Why to have only torque when you can have both HP&TQ !!! :banana:

I'm affraid I don't get your point. If you're just cruising, then you're just cruising and it doesn't matter if your car can accelerate like a Lambo or like a Town Car.
If you want to accelerate, then good acceleration in a GT is just a stomp on the gas away, while good acceleration in an S2000 is just a flick of the wrist and a stomp on the gas away. Not a big difference IMHO.

Yeah, leave it in the 6th gear and step on the gas and not much will happen. But that's true for pretty much any car out there.

it is possible that it could still be climbing, i remember readin in one of my hemmings muscle machines that in the late 60's and even in the 70's and 80's car companie would rate the horsepower and redline at too high or low rpm, mainly to fool insuarance companies. I doubt that they would do that now, but its possible

There was a thread here on Stang-Net that posted a link to an article that gave the flow #'s for the 2V, 3V & 4V heads (5.0 Mag??).

The 2V head flowed 95% of the intake air as the 4V head does. This says to me that with the right cams & intake it would make max power at 6800 - 7000 RPM.

You are right about the valve springs being the limiting factor, but the 3V head should be superior in this regard to the 2V. The limiting factor in the 2V head is the mass of the single large intake valve. Getting a valve spring and damper that can control the valve motion limits the useable RPM. Since the 3V uses 2 much smaller intake valves that have less mass, they should be able to open and close at a much higher rate than the single large 2V intake valve.

So the RPM limiting factor in the 3V head becomes the mass of the single exhaust valve. Since the exhaust valve is smaller (less mass) than the intake valve on the 2V head, the 3V head should be capable of higher RPMs than the 2V head.

But the 4V head will still have the highest allowable RPM based on valve train limitations.

Yea, but I don't trust anything in the car rags because they get so much info. wrong.

What we need is someone who has gotten their brand new 05 GT to test out what RPM fuel cut off occurs at and report back to us.
