I was cleaning all the sludge from my oil pan so I could mount it up to the new motor. I decided to removed the oi level sensor to seal it up with some thread sealant and RTV. Well I noticed that the little black cylinder inside it was loose as if it may have busted off inside there. Is it supposed to be loose or did I brake it when I shot water at it with the hose? I suppose I can go to the parts store and see, but I'd rather be lazy and ask.

It seems to me that the cylinder should be rigid. Some guys have gooped it up with success however (I need to on the 88 - mine's in the same boat as yours).

I would take the sensor with you to the parts store......................... so you can get the correct adapter for that oil temp gauge. :D

You could get a large bolt and insert it. The Shape has done this and might have a bolt thread size for you.

I had a feeling it was a dealer only item (and even then might be S.O.). You might be time and money ahead (shipping included) to get it through a resto house (LRS, etc).
